فحدثنا إسماعيل بن محمد بن الفضل الشَّعْرانِي، حدثنا جَدِّي، حدثنا إبراهيم بن المنذر الحزامي، حدثنا محمد بن فليح، عن موسى بن عقبة، عن ابن شِهَاب، قال: قُتِلَ من المشركين يوم الخندق عمرو بن عبد وَدٍّ، قتله عليُّ بن أبي طالب ﵁ (2). إسناد هذا المغازي صحيح على شرط الشيخين.
It is narrated from Ibn Shihab al-Zuhri that on the day of the Battle of the Trench, Amr bin Abd Wadd was killed from among the polytheists; Sayyiduna Ali bin Abi Talib (may Allah be pleased with him) sent him to Hell.
The chain of this narration, with regard to the Maghazi (history of the military expeditions), is sahih (authentic) on the condition of the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim).

(2) رجاله له بأس بهم، لكنه مرسل. ابن شهاب: هو محمد بن مسلم الزُّهْري.
Grading: (2) There is no harm in its narrators (la ba'sa bihim), but this narration is "mursal".
Technical note / Identification of narrators: "Ibn Shihab" is Muhammad bin Muslim al-Zuhri.
وأخرجه ابن هشام في "السيرة النبوية" 2/ 253 عن الثقة، عن ابن شهاب، الزهري، مثله. وزاد أنَّ عليًّا قتل أيضًا حِسْل بن عمرو بن عبد وَدٍّ، يعني قتل عمرًا وابنه.
Reference / Source: Ibn Hisham narrated it in "al-Sirah al-Nabawiyyah" (2/ 253) from a trustworthy narrator, from Ibn Shihab al-Zuhri, similarly.
Details of the narration: He added that 'Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) also killed "Hisl bin 'Amr bin 'Abd Wudd", i.e. he killed both 'Amr and his son.
