[التعليق - من تلخيص الذهبي] ترقيم العلميه 4278 - على شرط البخاري ومسلم
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) entered the mosque of Banu Amr bin Awf, that is, the Mosque of Quba', to pray there. Then some men of the Ansar came to him (peace and blessings be upon him) and began greeting him with salam. Ibn Umar says: Sayyiduna Suhayb (may Allah be pleased with him) was also with them. I asked him: When the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) was in prayer and was greeted with salam, what would he (peace and blessings be upon him) do? He said: "He (peace and blessings be upon him) would gesture with his hand."
This hadith is sahih (authentic) on the condition of the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim), but they did not record it.
