It is narrated from Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) that she said: When the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) came out of the cave, emigrating to Allah Almighty, and with him (peace and blessings be upon him) were Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) and Amir bin Fuhayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) (whom Sayyiduna Abu Bakr had seated behind him on his mount), and Abdullah bin Urayqit al-Laythi (as guide) was with them, he took them all through the lower part of Makkah. Then he went on until they came down to the seashore below Usfan; then they passed through the lower part of Amaj; then, after crossing Qudayd, they changed route; then they passed by al-Kharrar; then they crossed Thaniyyat al-Marah; then they passed through Lift; then they crossed Madlajat Liqf; then they went through the inner route of Madlajat Majah; then they took the route of Marjih; then they passed through the valley of Marjih at Dhu al-Ghadawayn; then through the valley of Dhu Kishd; then they took the route of al-Jadajid; then they reached Dhu Salam by way of the valley of A'da' at Madlajah; then they descended the slope of al-Qahah; then they reached al-Arj; then they took the route of Thaniyyat al-Gha'ir to the right of Rakubah; then they descended into the valley of Ri'm, and (finally) arrived at Quba' among Banu Amr bin Awf.

Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Note / Clarification: (1) In the manuscripts this name has been distorted to "Husayn".
Note / Clarification: (2) In "Sirat Ibn Hisham" (1/491) and other books of Sirah the word is thus (al-Kharrar), but in our manuscripts it has been distorted to "al-Hijaz". "Al-Kharrar" is a valley, the valley of al-Juhfah, and it lies within the Hijaz.
Note / Clarification: (3) In the manuscripts this word has been distorted to "al-Murar". "Thaniyyat al-Murar" is near al-Hudaybiyah, whereas "Thaniyyat al-Murrah" is a place still well known between Ghadir Khumm and al-Fur', and it is this that lies on the route of the Hijrah.
Note / Clarification: (4) In the manuscripts it is written "al-Hafya'", which is a distortion, because al-Hafya' is a place near Madinah and was not on the route of the Hijrah. The correct word is what we have established from "Sirat Ibn Hisham" and others.
Note / Clarification: (5) In the manuscripts of al-Hakim this word has been distorted to "Dahaj", whereas in Ibn Ishaq (see Ibn Hisham) it is recorded with vowels as "Mahaj" (with mim, and with the undotted ha' before the jim). Ibn Hisham says it is also called "Mijaj" (with two jims and a kasrah on the mim). Yaqut said in "Mu'jam al-Buldan" (5/55): In our view the correct form is something other than what they both narrated; in a verse of poetry mentioned by Ibn al-Zubayr bin Bakkar it comes as "Majah" (with fathah on the mim, then jim, and ending with an undotted ha').
5/ 102. Note / Clarification: (6) In manuscript (Z) it is written "Mudhij" in both places, and in (S) and (M) it is the same in the first place, while in the second place it is "Yuhih"; all of this is distortion. Yaqut gave its correct vocalisation in "Mu'jam al-Buldan" (5/102).
Note / Clarification: (7) In the manuscripts this word has been distorted to "al-Ghusun", and in the printed edition to "al-Ghusn". Yaqut vocalised it with ghayn and dad (both dotted and with fathah) (al-Ghadayan) and said: It is the dual form of "al-ghada".
Note / Clarification: (1) In the manuscripts this word has been distorted to "al-Hubahib".
Note / Clarification: (2) In the manuscripts this word has been distorted to "a'la". "A'da' al-wadi" means the sides and edges of the valley.
Grading: (3) This chain is hasan, in sha' Allah. Technical note / Defect ('illah): It is hasan because of Masruq bin al-Marzuban and Ibn Ishaq (Muhammad bin Ishaq bin Yasar, the author of the Sirah). Reference / Source: Ibn Battah al-Ukbari narrated it in "al-Ibanah" (9/634) through the route of Abu Ja'far Muhammad bin Salih bin Dharih from Masruq bin al-Marzuban, with this same chain, but he did not cite the long text in full.
