حدثنا إسماعيل بن محمد الشَّعْراني، حدثنا جَدّي، حدثنا إبراهيم بن المُنذر الحزامي، حدثنا حُسين بن زيد، عن شِهاب بن عبد ربّه، عن عمر بن علي، قال: مَشَيتُ مع محمد بن علي، فقال: أشهدُ أنَّ أبي حدثني، عن أبيه، عن علي: أنَّ الله ﷿ عَمَّر نَبيَّه ﷺ بمكةَ ثلاثَ عشرةَ سنة (1).
هذا حديث صحيح الإسناد، ولم يُخرجاه. وقد اتفقت الروايات على هذه مع الروايات التي أخرجاها عن عبد الله بن عبّاس ﵄ (2)، فأما خبرُ أنسٍ ومعاوية (3)، وإن صحَّت أسانيدُها في عشر سنين، فليس عليها القولُ والعمل.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ali bin Abi Talib (may Allah be pleased with him) that Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, granted His Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) a period of thirteen years (of residence) in Makkah.
The chain of this hadith is sahih (authentic), but the two Shaykhs did not record it. This narration agrees with the narrations which the two Shaykhs recorded from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both). As for the ten-year narrations of Sayyiduna Anas and Sayyiduna Mu'awiyah (may Allah be pleased with them both), although their chains are sahih, they have not been relied upon in scholarship or in practice (according to the majority).
