Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Note / Clarification: (1) In the manuscripts this name is written "Uqbah bin al-Mujaddar" (with the addition of the word "bin"), and it is evidently an error, because this Uqbah is in fact "Uqbah bin Khalid al-Sakuni", and the two hadith masters (huffaz) Ibn Nasir al-Din and Ibn Hajar mentioned that "al-Mujaddar" is Uqbah's nickname.
Grading: (2) Its narrators are "thiqah" (trustworthy), but what is "mahfuz" (preserved, the most correct) is that it is mursal and does not mention A'ishah (may Allah be pleased with her), as Ibn Asakir said in "Tarikh Dimashq" (66/339).
Technical note / Defect ('illah): The reason is that in "Tarikh Ibn Ma'in", in the transmission of Abbas al-Duri (174), this report is "mursal", and a group narrated it from Abbas al-Duri as mursal. Among them is Ibn al-A'rabi (see al-Khattabi's "Gharib al-Hadith" 1/129), who is the transmitter of the said "Tarikh" from Ibn Ma'in; and also Abu al-Husayn bin al-Saqqa' and Abu Muhammad bin Balawayh, who are cited in Ibn Asakir's "Tarikh Dimashq" (66/339).
Reference / Source: Likewise, it was narrated by Yunus bin Bukayr in his additions (zawa'id) to Ibn Ishaq's "al-Sirah al-Nabawiyyah" (331); by Muhammad bin Ishaq in "al-Sirah al-Nabawiyyah" in the transmission of Ziyad bin Abd Allah al-Bakka'i (see Sirat Ibn Hisham 1/416) and in the transmission of Salamah bin al-Fadl (see Tarikh al-Tabari 2/344); and by Sulayman bin Bilal in Ibn Sa'd's "al-Tabaqat" (1/103).
Technical note / Defect ('illah): All three of them (Yunus bin Bukayr, Muhammad bin Ishaq and Sulayman bin Bilal) narrate it from Hisham bin Urwah, from his father (Urwah), as mursal.
Reference / Source: Likewise, al-Zuhri also narrated it from Urwah bin al-Zubayr as mursal, in Ibn Abd al-Barr's "al-Isti'ab" (p. 32).
Technical note / Defect ('illah): Qays bin al-Rabi' narrated it as connected (mawsul), mentioning A'ishah (may Allah be pleased with her), in al-Tabarani's "al-Awsat" (594) and Ibn Asakir's "Tarikh Dimashq" (66/339), via Hisham bin Urwah, from his father, from A'ishah.
Grading: But Qays and the narrator from him both have "lin" (softness, weakness).
Technical note / Defect ('illah): Muhammad bin Ishaq (in the transmission of Abd Allah bin Idris from him) also reported it as "mawsul", as cited by al-Bayhaqi in "al-Dala'il"; in this chain it is "from someone who narrated to him" (an unnamed narrator), from Urwah bin al-Zubayr, from Abd Allah bin Ja'far bin Abi Talib. So he mentioned Abd Allah bin Ja'far in place of A'ishah.
Grading: This narration is shadh, and it contains an unnamed (mubham) narrator.
Reference / Source: Al-Bayhaqi narrated the author's (al-Hakim's) narration in "al-Dala'il" (2/349) from him, with this same chain.
Note / Clarification: His word "ka'ah" means "cowards"; it is the plural of "ka'i'".
