حدثنا أبو محمد أحمد بن عبد الله المُزَني، حدثنا يوسف بن موسى المَرُّوذِي، حدثنا عبّاد بن يعقوب، حدثنا الوليد بن أبي ثَور، عن السُّدِّي، عن عَبّاد بن عبد الله، عن علي، قال: كنا مع رسول الله ﷺ بمكة، فخرج في بعض نَواحِيها، فما استقبلَه شَجَرٌ، ولا جَبَلٌ إلّا قال: السلامُ عليك يا رسُولَ الله (1).
هذا حديث صحيح الإسناد، ولم يُخرجاه.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: We were with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) in Makkah, and he (peace and blessings be upon him) went out to one of the outlying areas of Makkah. Every tree or mountain that came before him would call out: "As-salamu 'alayka ya Rasulallah" (Peace be upon you, O Messenger of Allah).
The chain of this hadith is sahih (authentic), but the two Shaykhs did not record it.

(1) إسناده ضعيف جدًّا لضعف الوليد بن أبي ثور - وهو الوليد بن عبد الله بن أبي ثور - وجهالة عبّاد بن عبد الله، وسُمِّي في سائر روايات الحديث عند غير الحاكم: عباد بن أبي يزيد. السُّدِّي: هو إسماعيل بن عبد الرحمن.
Grading: (1) This chain is very weak (da'if jiddan).
Technical note / Defect ('illah): This is because of the weakness of al-Walid bin Abi Thawr (who is al-Walid bin Abd Allah bin Abi Thawr) and the unknown status (jahalah) of Abbad bin Abd Allah. In the other narrations of the hadith, by narrators other than al-Hakim, he is named "Abbad bin Abi Yazid". Al-Suddi is "Isma'il bin Abd al-Rahman".
وأخرجه الترمذي (3626) عن عباد بن يعقوب الكوفي، بهذا الإسناد. وقال: حديث غريب.
Reference / Source: Al-Tirmidhi (3626) narrated it from Abbad bin Ya'qub al-Kufi with this same chain.
Grading: And he said: "This hadith is gharib."
وقد صحَّ من حديث جابر بن سَمُرة عند مسلم (2277) وغيره قال: قال رسول الله ﷺ: "إني لأعرف حجرًا بمكة كان يُسلّم عليَّ قبل أن أُبعَثَ، إني لأعرفُه الآن".
Corroborating chains and supporting reports: However, it is authentically established from the hadith of Jabir bin Samurah (may Allah be pleased with him) in Sahih Muslim (2277) and elsewhere that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "I know a stone in Makkah which used to greet me with salam before I was sent (as a prophet); I still know it now."
