Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Technical note / Defect ('illah): The text between the brackets (ma'qufayn) had dropped out of the manuscripts, but it is present (established) with all the hadith scholars who recorded it, and it is undoubtedly what is intended here.
Grading: This hadith is weak and munkar (denounced).
Technical note / Defect ('illah): 'Amr bin Aws al-Ansari is an unknown (majhul) narrator; nothing is known of him and he is not mentioned anywhere except in this report, and he is alone in narrating it with this chain. Al-Dhahabi said in "al-Talkhis": "I think it has been fabricated (mawdu') upon Sa'id." We say: he means Sa'id bin Abi 'Arubah. Al-Dhahabi also wrote in "al-Mizan", in the biography of 'Amr bin Aws, that his condition is unknown and that he brought a munkar report.
Details of the narration: This report was narrated by Muhammad bin Hamdun bin Khalid al-Hafiz in al-Tha'labi's "Tafsir" 7/ 61 from Harun bin al-'Abbas al-Hashimi, from Muhammad bin Bishr bin Sharik, from Jandal. Likewise Abu Bakr al-Khallal narrated it in "al-Sunnah" (316) from Muhammad bin Bishr bin Sharik, from Jandal.
Technical note / Defect ('illah): If mentioning Muhammad bin Bishr bin Sharik in this chain is in fact correct, then this is another "defect" ('illah) in this report, namely the weakness of this Muhammad bin Bishr. Al-Dhahabi said about him in "al-Mizan": "He is not reliable ('umdah)." We say: although Muhammad bin 'Ismah al-Khurasani corroborated him in al-Khallal (316), the narrator who narrates from him is unknown and not recognised.
Details of the narration: A report similar to this is narrated from Ibn 'Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them) via another chain which is not reliable at all (la yufrahu bihi).
Reference / Source: Ibn al-Daylami recorded it in "Musnad al-Firdaws" (as in al-Hafiz Ibn Hajar's "al-Ghara'ib al-Multaqatah" 253) and Ibn al-Fakhir in "Mujibat al-Jannah" (423), via al-Fadl bin Ja'far bin Sulayman bin 'Ali bin 'Abdullah bin 'Abbas, from 'Abd al-Samad bin 'Ali bin 'Abdullah bin 'Abbas, from his father, from his grandfather.
Grading: Al-Dhahabi said in "al-Mizan": "'Abd al-Samad (the narrator in this chain) is not a proof (hujjah)."
Technical note / Defect ('illah): We say: and al-Fadl bin Ja'far, who narrates from him, is also unknown (majhul); his condition is not known.
Corroborating chains and supporting reports: On this topic there is also a narration from 'Umar bin al-Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him), which will come next, but it too is not reliable, as will be explained.
General principle: Regarding "La ilaha illa Allah, Muhammad Rasul Allah" being written on the Throne there are several narrations, which Ibn al-Jawzi mentioned in "al-Mawdu'at" (609, 630), and which al-Suyuti covered in "al-La'ali' al-Masnu'ah" (at various pages) and Ibn 'Arraq in "Tanzih al-Shari'ah".
Grading: All these narrations are such that no proof can be established by them, and most of their chains include "fabricators" (wadda'in).
