أُنْزِلَ عَلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَهُوَ ابْنُ ثَلَاثٍ وَأَرْبَعِينَ

حدثنا أبو العباس محمد بن يعقوب، حدثنا أحمد بن عبد الجبار، حدثنا يونس بن بُكير، عن عمر بن ذرٍّ [عن أبيه] (1) عن سعيد بن جُبَير، عن ابن عبّاس: أن رسول الله ﷺ قال لجبريلَ: "ما يَمنعُك أن تَزُورَنا أكثر مما تَزُورُنا" فأنزل الله ﷿: ﴿وَمَا نَتَنَزَّلُ إِلَّا بِأَمْرِ رَبِّكَ﴾ إلى قوله: ﴿وَمَا كَانَ رَبُّكَ نَسِيًّا﴾ [مريم: 64] (2).
هذا حديث صحيح على شرط الشيخين.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said to Jibril (peace be upon him): "Why do you not visit us more often than you visit us now?" Then Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, revealed the verses from "And we do not descend except by the command of your Lord" up to "and your Lord is never forgetful" [Maryam: 64]: "And (Jibril said:) We do not descend except by the command of your Lord, and your Lord is never forgetful."
This hadith is sahih (authentic) on the condition of the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim).

(1) سقط اسم أبي عمر - وهو ذرّ بن عبد الله المُرهِبي - من نسخنا الخطية، وأثبتناه من المطبوع، وهو ثابت في إسناد الرواية عند يونس بن بكير في زياداته على "السيرة النبوية" لابن إسحاق (168)، وكذلك عند غيره.
Technical note / Defect ('illah): The name of Abu 'Umar (who is Dharr bin 'Abdullah al-Murhibi) had dropped out of the manuscripts we have, and we have restored (entered) it from the printed edition.
Reference / Source: This name is present in the chain of the narration in Yunus bin Bukayr's additions (ziyadat) to "Sirat Ibn Ishaq" (168) and elsewhere.
(2) حديث صحيح، وهذا إسناد حسن من أجل أحمد بن عبد الجبار - وهو العُطاردي - وقد توبع.
Grading: This hadith is sahih.
Technical note / Defect ('illah): This chain is "hasan" on account of Ahmad bin 'Abd al-Jabbar (al-'Utaridi), and he has also been corroborated (mutaba'ah).
وأخرجه أحمد بن حنبل 3/ (2013) و (2078) و 5/ (3365)، والبخاري (3218) و (7455)، والترمذي (3158)، والنسائي (11257) من طرق عن عمر بن ذر، بهذا الإسناد.
Reference / Source: Ahmad bin Hanbal 3/ (2013, 2078) and 5/ (3365), al-Bukhari (3218, 7455), al-Tirmidhi (3158) and al-Nasa'i (11257) recorded it via various routes from 'Umar bin Dharr with this same chain.
