أخبرنا أبو العباس السَّيّاري، حدثنا محمد بن موسى بن حاتم، حدثنا علي بن الحسن بن شَقيق، أخبرنا أبو حمزة، عن عبد الملك بن عُمَير، عن إياد بن لَقِيطٍ، عن أبي رِمْثة، قال: أتيتُ النبيَّ ﷺ وعليه بُزْدان أخضَران، وله شَعرٌ قد عَلاهُ الشَّيبُ، وشَيبُه أحمرُ مَخضوبٌ بالحِنّاء (1).
هذا حديث صحيح الإسناد، ولم يُخرجاه.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Rimthah (may Allah be pleased with him); he said: I came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and he was wearing two green sheets. His hair had turned white, and that whiteness was red because of dye of henna.
This hadith has a sahih (authentic) chain, but the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim) did not record it.

(1) حديث صحيح، وهذا إسناد حسن من أجل محمد بن موسى بن حاتم - وهو الباشاني أو الفاشاني المَروَزي - وقد توبع. أبو حمزة هو محمد بن ميمون السُّكّري.
Grading: This hadith is sahih, and its chain is hasan on account of Muhammad bin Musa bin Hatim (al-Bashani al-Marwazi), and he has been corroborated (mutaba'ah).
Note / Clarification: The narrator Abu Hamzah is Muhammad bin Maymun al-Sukkari.
وأخرجه أحمد 29/ (17491) عن هُشيم بن بشير، عن عبد الملك بن عمير، به. مقتصرًا على قوله: رأيت الشيب أحمر.
Reference / Source: Ahmad 29/ (17491) recorded it via Hushaym bin Bashir, from 'Abd al-Malik bin 'Umayr, with only these words: "I saw the white hair red."
وأخرجه مقتصرًا على ذكر الثوبين الأخضرين النسائي (9578) من طريق جَرير بن حازم، عن عبد الملك، به.
Reference / Source: Al-Nasa'i (9578) recorded it via Jarir bin Hazim, mentioning only the two green garments.
وأخرجه أحمد 11/ (7104) و (7109) و (7115)، وأبو داود (4206) و (4208)، والنسائي (9303) و (9304)، وابن حبان (5995) من طرق عن إياد بن لَقيط، به. لكن بعضهم يقول: لطخ لحيته بالحناء، وبعضهم يقول: ذو وَفْرة بها رَدْعُ حِنّاء، وبعضهم يقول: برأسه رَدْع حِنّاء. ولم يذكر بعضهم الثوبين الأخضرين.

Details of the narration: Some narrations mention smearing henna on the beard, some mention traces (rad') of henna on the head, while some did not mention the green garments.
وأخرجه مقتصرًا على ذكر الثوبين الأخضرين الترمذيُّ (2812) من طريق عبيد الله بن إياد بن لقيط، عن أبيه، به.
Reference / Source: Al-Tirmidhi (2812) recorded it via 'Ubaydullah bin Iyad, mentioning only the green garments.
