حدثنا محمد بن صالح بن هانئ، حدثنا السَّرِيُّ بن خُزَيمة، حدثنا عفّان، حدثنا عبد الواحد بن زياد، حدثنا عاصم بن كُليب، عن أبيه، قال: حدثتْني ربيبةُ النبيِّ ﷺ زينبُ، وقلت لها: أخبريني عن النبي ﷺ، ممن كان؟ من مُضَرَ كان؟ قالت: فممَّن كان إِلَّا من مُضَرَ، من ولدِ النَّضر بن كِنانة (2).
هذا حديث صحيح الإسناد، ولم يُخرجاه!

It is narrated from Sayyidah Zaynab (may Allah be pleased with her), the stepdaughter of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). (Kulayb says:) I said to her: Tell me about the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), which tribe was he from? Was he from the tribe of Mudar? She said: He was indeed from the tribe of Mudar, that is, from the descendants of al-Nadr bin Kinanah.
This hadith has a sahih (authentic) chain, but the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim) did not record it.

(2) إسناده صحيح لكن دون ذكر عاصم بن كليب في إسناده، وذكره خطأ من عَفَّان بن مسلم، كما قال الحافظ ابن حجر في "فتح الباري" 10/ 330.
Grading: Its chain is sahih, but 'Asim bin Kulayb should not be mentioned in it.
Technical note / Defect ('illah): Including the name of 'Asim bin Kulayb in the chain is an error of 'Affan bin Muslim, as al-Hafiz Ibn Hajar al-'Asqalani explained in "Fath al-Bari" 10/330.
وأخرجه البخاري (3491) عن قيس بن حفص البصري، و (3492) عن موسى بن إسماعيل، كلاهما عن عبد الواحد بن زياد، عن كليب بن وائل، عن ربيبة النبي ﷺ زينب بنت أبي سلمة. فلم يذكرا في روايتهما عن عبد الواحد عاصم بن كليب. واستدراك الحاكم له ذهولٌ منه.
Reference / Source: Al-Bukhari recorded it at (3491) via Qays bin Hafs al-Basri and at (3492) via Musa bin Isma'il, both of them from 'Abd al-Wahid bin Ziyad, from Kulayb bin Wa'il, from Zaynab bint Abi Salamah, the stepdaughter raised by the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him).
Important point: Neither of them mentioned 'Asim bin Kulayb in their narration from 'Abd al-Wahid, and al-Hakim's including it as a supplement (istidrak) is an oversight (dhuhul) on his part.
