حدثنا علي بن حَمْشَاذَ العَدْل، حدثنا عُبيد بن عبد الواحد بن شَرِيك وأحمد بن إبراهيم بن مِلْحان، قالا: حدثنا عمرو بن خالد الحَرّاني، حدثنا ابن لَهِيعة، عن يزيد بن أبي حَبيب وعُقيل، عن ابن شِهَاب، عن أنس، قال: لما وُلِد إبراهيمُ ابن النبي ﷺ، أتاهُ جبريلُ فقال: السلامُ عليك يا أبا إبراهيمَ (1).

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that when Ibrahim, the son of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), was born, Jibril (peace be upon him) came to him (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: 'As-salamu 'alayka ya Aba Ibrahim' (Peace be upon you, O father of Ibrahim!)

(1) إسناده ضعيف لسوء حفظ ابن لهيعة - واسمه عبد الله - وقد ظهر سوء حفظه في هذا الخبر، وذلك أنه اختُلف عليه في إسناده، فرواه عمرو بن خالد الحراني وعثمان بن صالح المصري عنه، كما وقع في رواية المصنف هنا بذكر يزيد بن أبي حبيب وعُقيل - وهو ابن خالد - مقرونَين، وخالفهما عبد الله بن وهب ويحيى بن بكير، فروياه عنه، عن يزيد بن أبي حبيب وحده، عن الزُّهْري، وخالفهم هانئ بن المتوكل وعبد الله بن صالح كاتب الليث، فروياه عن ابن لهيعة، عن يزيد بن أبي حبيب وحده، عن عبد الرحمن بن شماسة، عن عبد الله بن عمرو بن العاص. وأشبه هذه الروايات عنه رواية عبد الله بن وهب ويحيى بن بكير، لأنَّ الله بن وهب قديم السماع من ابن لهيعة قبل تغيُّر حفظه، ولكن يزيد بن أبي حبيب لم يسمع من الزُّهْري شيئًا فيما نصَّ عليه غير واحد من النقاد كعبد الله بن يزيد المقرئ وأحمد بن حنبل ويحيى بن مَعِين وأبي حاتم الرازي، وقالوا إنما كتب له الزُّهْري كتابةً. قلنا: وهو ينُصُّ على ذكر الكتابة عادةً، لكنه هنا لم ينُصّ عليها، فروايته عنه منقطعة، وخصوصًا إذا علمنا أنه يروي عنه بواسطة في غير ما حديث.
Grading: Its chain is weak.
Technical note / Defect ('illah): This is because of the poor memory of Ibn Lahi'ah ('Abdullah), which is evident in this report, for there is disagreement over its chain from him. 'Amr bin Khalid al-Harrani and 'Uthman bin Salih al-Misri narrated it from him mentioning Yazid bin Abi Habib and 'Uqayl (bin Khalid) together, as in the author's (al-Hakim) narration here. 'Abdullah bin Wahb and Yahya bin Bukayr contradicted them, narrating it from him from Yazid bin Abi Habib alone, from al-Zuhri. Hani' bin al-Mutawakkil and 'Abdullah bin Salih, the scribe of al-Layth, contradicted them all, narrating it from Ibn Lahi'ah, from Yazid bin Abi Habib alone, from 'Abd al-Rahman bin Shimasah, from 'Abdullah bin 'Amr bin al-'As.
Important point: The most likely of these narrations from him is that of 'Abdullah bin Wahb and Yahya bin Bukayr, because 'Abdullah bin Wahb heard from Ibn Lahi'ah early, before his memory deteriorated. However, Yazid bin Abi Habib did not hear anything from al-Zuhri, as stated explicitly by more than one of the critics, such as 'Abdullah bin Yazid al-Muqri', Ahmad bin Hanbal, Yahya bin Ma'in and Abu Hatim al-Razi; they said that al-Zuhri only wrote to him in writing. We say: he usually states explicitly that it was in writing, but here he did not, so his narration from him is munqati', especially since we know that he narrates from him through an intermediary in more than one hadith.
