(1). It is narrated from Wahb bin Munabbih (may Allah have mercy on him) that he said: "Yunus bin Matta (peace be upon him) was a righteous servant, but there was a harshness in his nature. So when the heavy burden of prophethood was placed upon him, and it has burdens that only a few people are able to bear, he was crushed beneath that burden just as a weak animal is crushed under a load. So he put that (responsibility) down from his hands and ran away from there. Allah Almighty says to His Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him): 'So be patient, as the messengers of firm resolve were patient.' [Surah al-Ahqaf: 35] And He said: 'So be patient with the decision of your Lord, and do not be like the man of the fish (Yunus, peace be upon him), when he called out while he was filled with grief.' [Surah al-Qalam: 48] That is, do not abandon My command the way he abandoned it."

Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Grading: Its chain is wahin (extremely weak), as al-Hafiz al-Dhahabi said in several places in "al-Talkhis"; the reason is "Abd al-Mun'im bin Idris", who is matruk (abandoned), and Imam Ahmad declared him a liar. Important point: However, it is narrated from Wahb bin Munabbih through another route that is acceptable (la ba'sa biha). Reference / Source: It was recorded by Muhammad bin Ishaq in "al-Mubtada' wa al-Mab'ath wa al-Maghazi" (in the transmission of Yunus bin Bukayr from him (154)), and via Ibn Ishaq it was recorded by al-Tabari in his "Tafsir" 17/ 77 and Abu Nu'aym in "al-Hilyah" 4/ 50. He said: "Rabi'ah bin Abi Abd al-Rahman narrated to me, he said: I heard Wahb bin Munabbih", and then he mentioned it. Grading: And its chain is hasan. Note / Clarification: The word in the text, "tafassakha", means: he slipped out of it and was stripped of it. Note / Clarification: "Tafassukh al-ruba'" means: like the coming apart of a young camel (the calf born in spring) under a heavy load.
