Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Grading: It is sahih as mawquf, and the narrators of this chain are acceptable (la ba'sa bihim).
Reference / Source: However, it was narrated by Fadl bin Sahl al-A'raj (in Ibn Abi 'Asim's "al-Sunnah" (436)), by Abu Hatim al-Razi (in Ibn Mandah's "al-Tawhid" (581) and Abu al-Qasim al-Asbahani's "al-Hujjah" 1/ 547), and by Muhammad bin Sulayman al-Baghandi (in Ibn Khuzaymah's "al-Tawhid" 2/ 485 and al-Daraqutni's "Ru'yat Allah" (268)).
Technical note / Defect ('illah): All three of them narrate it from Muhammad bin al-Sabbah (al-Dulabi) as mawquf on Ibn Abbas as his own statement, and this is what is correct. In his narration Abu Hatim paired 'Amir al-Sha'bi with 'Ikrimah.
Reference / Source: Others besides Muhammad bin al-Sabbah have likewise narrated it as mawquf from Isma'il bin Zakariyya (al-Khulqani), among them Muhammad bin Ja'far al-Warkani and Muhammad bin Bakkar bin al-Rayyan, found in Abd Allah bin Ahmad bin Hanbal's "al-Sunnah" (577) and (1042), al-Daraqutni's "Ru'yat Allah" (283), Ibn Mandah's "al-Tawhid" (580), and Abu al-Qasim al-Asbahani 1/ 546.
Reference / Source: Likewise, Qays bin al-Rabi' narrated it from 'Asim al-Ahwal and made it mawquf on Ibn Abbas. His narration is found in Ibn Khuzaymah's "al-Tawhid" 2/ 484, Ibn al-Mundhir's "Tafsir" (368), al-Ajurri's "al-Shari'ah" (686), (687) and (1031), al-Tabarani's "al-Kabir" (11914), al-Daraqutni's "Ru'yat Allah" (262), al-Wahidi's "al-Tafsir al-Wasit" 4/ 196, Ibn Asakir's "Tarikh Dimashq" 6/ 215 and 216, and al-Dhahabi's "Siyar A'lam al-Nubala'" 14/ 45.
Corroborating chains and supporting reports: Qatadah also narrated it from 'Ikrimah as mawquf, as has already passed under nos. (217), (3151) and (3789). Likewise Yazid bin Hazim (the brother of Jarir) narrated it from 'Ikrimah, found in Abd Allah bin Ahmad's "al-Sunnah" (578) and (1041), and a group recorded it via him.
