Mustadrak al-Hakim — Hadith 4114

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with them both) that he said: When the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) came to al-Hijr (the land of Thamud), he praised and extolled Allah, then said: "To proceed: Do not ask your Messenger for signs. These were the people of Salih who asked their Messenger for a sign, so Allah sent the she-camel for them. She would come (to drink) by this path and go back by this path, and on her day of turn she would drink all their water." [Mention of the Prophet Shu'ayb (peace and blessings be upon him)]
