It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) concerning the saying of Allah Almighty "By the sun and its brightness" [Surah al-Shams: 1], that he said: "Its light"; concerning "and by the moon when it follows it" [Surah al-Shams: 2] he said: "It came after it"; concerning "and by the day when it displays it" [Surah al-Shams: 3] he said: "It made it bright"; concerning "and by the sky and He who built it" [Surah al-Shams: 5] he said: "Allah built the sky"; concerning the saying "and by the earth and He who spread it" [Surah al-Shams: 6] he said: "He spread it out"; concerning "and inspired it with its wickedness and its righteousness" [Surah al-Shams: 8] he said: "He (Allah) made it (the soul) recognise its wretchedness and its felicity"; and concerning "and he has failed who corrupts it" [Surah al-Shams: 10] he said: "He led it astray".

Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Grading: This is "sahih" from Mujahid as part of his tafsir. There is weakness in Abd al-Rahman bin al-Hasan, but he has been corroborated. Reference / Source: For al-Harith bin Abi Usamah narrated it from al-Hasan bin Musa al-Ashyab, from Warqa' (in al-Tabari 30/208 and after, in separate portions), and did not take it beyond Mujahid. Its chain is "sahih". Reference / Source: It is likewise narrated as Mujahid's tafsir in Abu Ali bin Shadhan's narration of the "Tafsir of Adam bin Abi Iyas" (2/762-764) from Abd al-Rahman bin Hasan al-Qadi. Reference / Source: Al-Bayhaqi narrated its last part in "al-Qada' wa al-Qadar" (353) from Abu Abdullah al-Hakim with this chain (with mention of Ibn Abbas). Then he said (354): Abu Abdullah (i.e. al-Hakim) informed us of it in the Tafsir of Mujahid with this chain and did not take it beyond Mujahid … and he said about His words ﴿وَقَدْ خَابَ مَنْ دَسَّاهَا﴾ [and he has failed who corrupts it]: that is, he has failed whom Allah led astray. We say: It is also with this wording in the narration of Ibn Shadhan.
