It is narrated from Abd al-Aziz bin Jurayj (may Allah have mercy on him) that he said: We asked Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her): Which (surahs) did the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) recite in Witr? She said: He (peace and blessings be upon him) used to recite in the first rak'ah "Glorify the name of your Lord, the Most High", in the second "Say: O disbelievers", and in the third "Say: He is Allah, the One" and the Mu'awwidhatayn (Surah al-Falaq and Surah al-Nas).
The leading authority of the people of Egypt in hadith and narration, Sa'id bin Kathir bin Ufayr, has brought (this addition) from Yahya bin Ayyub; I searched for it when I was dictating the Book of Witr but did not find it, and then I found it afterwards.

Grading: This hadith is "hasan" by virtue of its routes and supporting reports, but this particular chain is "da'if" because of the weakness of Abd al-Aziz bin Jurayj. Khusayf (Ibn Abd al-Rahman al-Jazari) had a poor memory, and he erred by narrating from Abd al-Aziz bin Jurayj in a way that gives the impression that he heard from Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her), although he did not hear from her. Ishaq bin Ibrahim is "Ibn Rahawayh", and Muhammad bin Salamah al-Jazari is "al-Harrani". 1/ 512. Reference / Source: It was narrated by Ahmad (43/25906), Ibn Majah (1173) and al-Tirmidhi (463) via Muhammad bin Salamah al-Harrani, with this chain. Al-Tirmidhi said: This hadith is "hasan gharib". Likewise al-Hafiz Ibn Hajar graded it hasan in "Nata'ij al-Afkar" (1/512). Reference / Source: See the previous hadith and the comment on it. Corroborating chains and supporting reports: It has a supporting report (shahid) in the hadith of Abdullah bin Sarjis in Abu Nu'aym's "Hilyat al-Awliya'" (7/182), and its narrators are thiqah. Corroborating chains and supporting reports: Another supporting report is from Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) in al-Tabarani's "al-Awsat" (8839), and its chain is "da'if".
