أخبرنا أبو عبد الله محمد بن يعقوب الشَّيباني، حدثنا حامد بن أبي حامد المقرئ، حدثنا إسحاق بن سليمان الرَّازي، حدثنا أبو سِنان (4)، عن أبي إسحاق، عن عَمرو بن شُرَحبيل، عن عبد الله: ﴿إِنَّ نَاشِئَةَ اللَّيْلِ﴾ [المزمل: 6] قال: هي بالحبَشيّة قيامُ الليل (1).
هذا حديث صحيح الإسناد، ولم يُخرجاه.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) concerning the saying of Allah Almighty: "Indeed, the rising by night" [Al-Muzzammil: 6], that he said: In the Abyssinian language it means qiyam al-layl (standing at night for worship).
This hadith has a sahih (authentic) chain of narration, but the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim) did not record it.

(4) تحرَّف في النسخ الخطية إلى: غسان، وأبو سنان هذا الذي يروي عن أبي إسحاق السبيعي وعنه إسحاق بن سليمان الرازي: هو سعيد بن سنان البرجمي، ووقع على الصواب في "مصنف ابن أبي شيبة".
Note / Clarification: In the manuscripts this is distorted into "Ghassan". This Abu Sinan, who narrates from Abu Ishaq al-Sabi'i and from whom Ishaq bin Sulayman al-Razi narrates, is "Sa'id bin Sinan al-Burjumi". In the "Musannaf" of Ibn Abi Shaybah it occurs correctly.
(1) إسناده قوي من أجل أبي سنان. عبد الله: هو ابن مسعود.
Grading: Its chain is "qawi" because of Abu Sinan. 'Abd Allah is "Ibn Mas'ud".
وأخرجه ابن أبي شيبة 10/ 471 عن إسحاق بن سليمان الرازي، بهذا الإسناد.
Reference / Source: Ibn Abi Shaybah (10/471) narrated it from Ishaq bin Sulayman al-Razi with this same chain.
