حدثنا أبو محمد المُزَني، أخبرنا أحمد بن نَجْدةَ القرشي، حدثنا سعيد بن منصور، حدثنا عبد الرزاق، أخبرني عبد الوهاب بن مجاهد، عن أبيه، عن ابن عبَّاس في قوله ﷿: ﴿وَقَدِّرْ فِي السَّرْدِ﴾ [سبأ: 11]، قال: لا تُدِقَّ المساميرَ وتُوسِّعْ فتَسلَسَ، ولا تُغلظِ المساميرَ وتُضيِّقِ الحَلَقَ فتَنفصِمَ، واجعله قَدْرًا (2). هذا حرفٌ غريبٌ في التفسير، وعبد الوهاب ممَّن لم يُخرجاه.

It is reported from Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) concerning this saying of Allah Almighty: "And measure precisely in the linking (of the rings)" [Surah Saba: 11], that he said: (It means) do not make the nails so thin that they become loose and slip out, nor make them so thick that they break the rings of the coat of mail; rather, keep it balanced and in proper measure. This is a gharib (unusual) statement in tafsir, and because of Abd al-Wahhab bin Mujahid the two Shaykhs did not record it.

(2) إسناده ضعيف جدًا من أجل عبد الوهاب بن مجاهد، فإنه متَّفَق على ضعفه، وبه أعلَّه الذهبي في "تلخيصه"، وقد خالفه عبد الله بن أبي نجيح الثقة عند الطبري في "تفسيره" 22/ 68 فرواه عن مجاهد من قوله.
Grading: This chain is da'if jiddan (very weak) because of "Abd al-Wahhab bin Mujahid", for his weakness is agreed upon, and al-Dhahabi pointed to him as the defect in "al-Talkhis".
Technical note / Defect ('illah): Abd Allah bin Abi Najih, who is thiqah, differed from him in al-Tabari's "Tafsir" (22/ 68), narrating it as Mujahid's own saying.
