It is narrated from Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) that she said: O Messenger of Allah! Abdullah bin Jud'an (in the Days of Ignorance) used to entertain guests, maintain the ties of kinship and do many good deeds. Will these deeds be of any benefit to him (in the Hereafter)? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "No, because he never said, even on a single day: 'Rabbighfir li khati'ati yawmad-din' (My Lord, forgive me my sin on the Day of Recompense (the Day of Resurrection))."
This hadith has a sahih (authentic) chain of narration, but the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim) did not record it.

Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Grading: The hadith is sahih, but this chain is "da'if" due to the weakness of Abu Waqid (Salih bin Muhammad bin Za'idah). The majority declared him weak, although Imam Ahmad held a good opinion of him. However, he has been corroborated in this hadith and is not alone in it. Note / Clarification: Abu Salamah is Ibn Abd al-Rahman bin Awf. Reference / Source: It was recorded by Ibn Adi in "al-Kamil" (5/ 91) and al-Rafi'i in "al-Tadwin fi Akhbar Qazwin" (1/ 206) through Hatim bin Isma'il, from Salih bin Muhammad bin Za'idah, with this chain. Reference / Source: It was recorded by Ahmad (41/ 24621), Muslim (214) and Ibn Hibban (331) through Masruq, and by Ahmad (24892) and Ibn Hibban (330) through Ubayd bin Umayr, both from A'ishah. So al-Hakim's istidrak is an "oversight" (dhuhul) on his part.
