It is narrated from Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him); he said: One day the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) came out to us and said: "I saw in a dream that Jibril was at my head and Mika'il at my feet. One of them said to his companion: 'Strike a parable for him.' So he said: 'Listen, may your ears hear; and understand, may your heart comprehend. The parable of you and your Ummah is like that of a king who built a fortress, then built a house within it, then laid out a banquet there and sent a caller to invite the people to the food. Some of them answered the call of the messenger (the caller), and some of them ignored it. Allah is the King, the fortress is Islam, the house is Paradise, and you, O Muhammad, are the Messenger of Allah. Whoever answers your call enters Islam, whoever enters Islam enters Paradise, and whoever enters Paradise eats of its blessings.'" [Surah Yunus: 25]
This hadith has a sahih (authentic) chain, but the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim) did not record it.

Grading: The hadith is sahih, in sha' Allah. Technical note / Defect ('illah): There is disagreement over its isnad. Abu al-Tayyib al-Bayhaqi narrated it, as here, from his maternal uncle al-Fadl bin Muhammad al-Bayhaqi al-Sha'rani, and mentioned "Muhammad bin Ali bin al-Husayn" as the link between Sa'id bin Abi Hilal and Jabir. Whereas his (al-Fadl's) grandson Isma'il bin Muhammad narrated it from al-Fadl, as will come at number (8388), and made "Ata'" the link between the two. And (the narrator) Abdullah bin Salih has some weakness in his memory. Technical note / Defect ('illah): Qutaybah bin Sa'id contradicted him in al-Tirmidhi (2860) and narrated it from al-Layth bin Sa'd with the link between Sa'id and Jabir dropped, as munqati' (broken), for Sa'id bin Abi Hilal did not meet Jabir, as al-Tirmidhi said. Reference / Source: Al-Bukhari (7281) recorded something similar by way of Salim bin Hayyan, from Sa'id bin Mina', from Jabir bin Abdullah, and then pointed to the narration of Qutaybah from al-Layth. Corroborating chains and supporting reports: On this topic there is a narration from Ibn Mas'ud in al-Tirmidhi (2861), and he graded it hasan.
