أخبرني أبو بكر الشافعي، حدثنا محمد بن غالب، حدثنا أبو حُذَيفة، حدثنا سفيان، عن جعفر بن إياس، عن سعيد بن جُبير، عن ابن عبَّاس قال: كانوا يكرهون أن يَرضَخُوا لأنسِبائِهم (1) وهم مشركون، فنزلت: ﴿لَيْسَ عَلَيْكَ هُدَاهُمْ وَلَكِنَّ اللَّهَ يَهْدِي مَنْ يَشَاءُ﴾ حتى بلغ ﴿وَأَنْتُمْ لَا تُظْلَمُونَ﴾ [البقرة: 272]، قال: فرُخِّصَ لهم (2).
هذا حديث صحيح الإسناد، ولم يُخرجاه.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Companions used to dislike giving charity to those of their relatives who were polytheists. Then this verse was revealed, from "Their guidance is not your responsibility, but Allah guides whom He wills" up to "and you will not be wronged" [Surah al-Baqarah: 272]. The narrator said: So they were given permission to help their non-Muslim relatives.
This hadith has a sahih (authentic) chain of narration, and the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim) did not record it.

(1) في (ع) و (ب): لأنسابهم، وهو خطأ. والأنسباء: الأقرباء، جمع نَسِيب.
Note / Clarification: In manuscripts ('A) and (B) it is "li-ansabihim", which is a mistake. "al-ansiba'" means relatives; it is the plural of "nasib".
(2) حديث صحيح، وهذا إسناد حسن من أجل أبي حذيفة -وهو موسى بن مسعود النهدي- وقد توبع. سفيان: هو الثوري.
Grading: This hadith is sahih, and this chain is "hasan" on account of Abu Hudhayfah (Musa bin Mas'ud al-Nahdi), and he has been corroborated.
Technical note / Defect ('illah): Sufyan is al-Thawri.
وأخرجه النسائي (10986) من طريق محمد بن يوسف الفريابي، عن سفيان الثوري، بهذا الإسناد.
Reference / Source: Al-Nasa'i recorded it (10986) via Muhammad bin Yusuf al-Firyabi, from Sufyan al-Thawri, with this same chain.
وسيأتي برقم (7451) من طريق أبي أحمد الزبيري عن سفيان.

والرَّضْخ: العطيّة القليلة.
