حدثنا محمد بن صالح بن هانئ، حدثنا يحيى بن محمد بن يحيى الشهيد، حدثنا عثمان بن أبي شَيْبة، حدثنا محمد بن فُضَيل بن غَزْوان، عن أبيه، عن زاذانَ، عن علي: أنَّ النبي ﷺ قرأ: ﴿الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا وَاتَّبَعَتْهُمْ ذُرِّيَّتُهُمْ بِإِيمَانٍ أَلْحَقْنَا بِهِمْ ذُرِّيَّتَهُمْ﴾ [الطور: 21] (1).
هذا حديث صحيح الإسناد، ولم يُخرجاه.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) recited this blessed verse: "Those who believed and whose offspring followed them in faith, We will join their offspring with them (in the ranks of Paradise)." [Surah al-Tur: 21]
This hadith has an authentic (sahih) chain of narration, but the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim) did not record it.

(1) ضعيف، وسَوقه هنا من رواية محمد بن فضيل بن غزوان عن أبيه وهمٌ من يحيى بن محمد أو ممَّن دونه، فقد خالف عبدُ الله بن أحمد في زياداته على "مسند" أبيه 2/ (1131)، وأبو بكر بن أبي عاصم في "السنة" (213 م)، فروياه ضمن حديثٍ عن عثمان بن أبي شيبة، عن محمد بن فضيل، عن محمد بن عثمان - وعند ابن أبي عاصم: عن محمد مهملًا - عن زاذان، به. ومحمد بن عثمان هذا مجهول.
Grading: This narration is "da'if".
Technical note / Defect ('illah): Presenting it here as the narration of "Muhammad bin Fudayl bin Ghazwan from his father" is a "mistake" (wahm) by Yahya bin Muhammad or someone below him. For Abd Allah bin Ahmad in his additions to "al-Musnad" 2/ (1131) and Abu Bakr bin Abi 'Asim in "al-Sunnah" (213 M) contradicted this; they narrated it from 'Uthman bin Abi Shaybah, from Muhammad bin Fudayl, from Muhammad bin 'Uthman (with Ibn Abi 'Asim it is just "Muhammad"), from Zadhan. And this Muhammad bin 'Uthman is "majhul" (unknown).
Grading: This narration is "da'if".
