Mustadrak al-Hakim — Hadith 3007

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) used to recite this verse like this: "Mustakbirina bihi samiran tuhjirun." [Surah al-Mu'minun: 67] He explained that the polytheists used to speak obscene and raving words (tahajjur) about the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him).
This hadith has an authentic (sahih) chain of narration, but the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim) did not record it.

Hadith Grading
Hadith Takhrij «
Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Grading: Its chain is "very weak".
Technical note / Defect ('illah): Yahya bin Salamah bin Kuhayl is a "matruk" narrator.
Details of the narration: Abu Ghassan here is "Malik bin Isma'il al-Nahdi".
General principle: The reading (تهجِّرون) is "shadh"; Ibn Jinni mentioned it in "al-Muhtasab" 2/ 96-97 and attributed it to Ibn Mas'ud, Ibn 'Abbas and 'Ikrimah.
