يُؤَدِّي الْمُكَاتَبُ بِقَدْرِ مَا عُتِقَ مِنْهُ بِحِسَابِ الْحُرِّ ، وَمَا رَقَّ فَبِحِسَابِ الْعَبْدِ
The mukatab pays for the part of him that is freed at the rate of a free man, and for the part still enslaved at the rate of a slave

أخبرنا إبراهيم بن عِصْمة، حدثنا السَّرِيّ بن خُزيمة. وأخبرني عبد الله بن محمد الصَّيدلاني، حدثنا محمد بن أيوب؛ قالا: حدثنا موسى بن إسماعيل، حدثنا حماد بن سَلَمة، عن أيوب، عن عِكْرمة، عن ابن عباس، أنَّ النبي ﷺ قال: "إذا أصاب المُكاتَبُ حَدًّا، أو وَرِثَ ميراثًا، فإنه يَرِثُ بقَدْر ما عَتَقَ، ويُقامُ عليه بقَدْر ما عَتَقَ منه" (2).
هذا حديث صحيح الإسناد، ولم يُخرجاه.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "When a mukatab slave becomes liable to a prescribed punishment (hadd), or he receives an inheritance, he will receive inheritance according to the proportion of his freedom, and the prescribed punishment will be carried out on him to the same extent (in proportion to his freedom)."
This hadith has an authentic chain (sahih al-isnad), but the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim) did not record it.

(2) رجاله ثقات، لكنه اختُلف في وصله وإرساله ورفعه ووقفه، كما بيناه مبسوطًا في "سنن أبي داود" بتحقيقنا (4582)، وأشار إلى ذلك أبو داود بإثره.
Grading of the chain: Its narrators are trustworthy.
Defect / Disagreement: But there is disagreement over whether this hadith is "mawsul or mursal" and "marfu' or mawquf", as we have explained in detail in our edition of "Sunan Abi Dawud" (number 4582), and Imam Abu Dawud also alluded to this after the hadith.
وأخرجه أبو داود (4582) عن موسى بن إسماعيل، بهذا الإسناد.
Reference / Source: Abu Dawud narrated it (4582) through Musa bin Isma'il with this same chain.
وأخرجه أحمد 5/ (3489)، والترمذي (1259)، والنسائي (5002) و (6357) و (6986) و (7226) من طريق يزيد بن هارون، عن حماد بن سلمة، به. زاد الترمذي: وقال النبي ﷺ، فذكر نحو رواية أبان بن يزيد عن يحيى بن أبي كثير عن عكرمة التي تقدمت.
Reference / Source: Imam Ahmad (5/ 3489), al-Tirmidhi (1259) and al-Nasa'i (5002, 6357, 6986, 7226) narrated it by way of Yazid bin Harun, from Hammad bin Salamah.
Addition: Imam al-Tirmidhi transmitted this addition in it: "And the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said", then he mentioned something like the narration of Aban bin Yazid, from Yahya bin Abi Kathir, from 'Ikrimah, which has already passed.
