Book of the Mukatab
يُؤَدِّي الْمُكَاتَبُ بِقَدْرِ مَا عُتِقَ مِنْهُ بِحِسَابِ الْحُرِّ ، وَمَا رَقَّ فَبِحِسَابِ الْعَبْدِ
The mukatab pays for the part of him that is freed at the rate of a free man, and for the part still enslaved at the rate of a slave

أخبرنا أبو النضر محمد بن محمد بن يوسف الفقيه، حدثنا عثمان بن سعيد الدارمي وعلي بن عبد العزيز، قالا: حدثنا مُسلِم بن إبراهيم، حدثنا أبان بن يزيد، حدثنا يحيى بن أبي كَثير، عن عِكرمة، عن ابن عباس، قال: قال رسول الله ﷺ: "يُودَى المكاتَبُ بقَدْر ما عَتَقَ منه بحِسابِ الحُرِّ، وما رَقَّ فبِحسابِ العَبدِ" (1).
هذا حديث صحيح على شرط البخاري، ولم يُخرجاه.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The blood money of a mukatab (slave) will be paid according to the proportion of his freedom at the rate of a free (person), and for the portion of slavery that remains, the reckoning will be according to that of a slave."
This hadith is sahih (authentic) on the condition of Imam Bukhari, but the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim) did not record it.

وأخرجه أحمد 4/ (2660) عن عفان بن مسلم، عن أبان بن يزيد، بهذا الإسناد.
Reference / Source: Imam Ahmad narrated it (4/ 2660) through 'Affan bin Muslim, from Aban bin Yazid, with this same chain.
وأخرجه بنحوه أحمد 5/ (3489)، والترمذي (1259) من طريق يزيد بن هارون، عن حماد بن سلمة، عن أيوب، عن عكرمة، عن ابن عباس.
