Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Grading: The chain of this hadith is "da'if".
Technical note / Defect ('illah): Ibrahim bin Muhajir is alone in narrating it, and he is not strong and brings narrations in which he is not corroborated. In this narration the name appears as "Mus'ab bin Amir", whereas some of those who narrate it from Sharik (Ibn Abd Allah al-Nakha'i) call him "Amir bin Mus'ab", and this is his correct name, as Ibn Jurayj also named him in several hadiths (such as al-Bukhari 2060). Abu Ja'far al-Razi contradicted this in this hadith and gave the man's name as "Amir bin Sa'd", which is a mistake, as Abu Hatim (al-'Ilal 1301) stated firmly. Al-Daraqutni (al-'Ilal 3869) erred in declaring his view correct, and the view of Abu Hatim is the one to rely on. Although al-Bukhari narrated from Amir bin Mus'ab, it is paired with Amr bin Dinar, and Ibn Hibban said that he does not approve of relying on Ibrahim bin Muhajir's narration from him. Al-'Uqayli said: The chains are established concerning the story of Subay'ah al-Aslamiyyah. We say: If this is the same hadith, then there are contradictions in it at several points, for example that it is from Umm Salamah and not from Aishah, and that the woman's husband died or was killed, not that he divorced her. And Allah knows best.

Reference / Source: Al-Bukhari likewise (6/ 455), and al-Tabarani in "al-Awsat" (1861), narrated it likewise by way of Ishaq bin Yusuf, from Sharik, from Ibrahim bin Muhajir, from Amir bin Mus'ab.
Reference / Source: Al-'Uqayli recorded it in "al-Du'afa'" (1379) by way of Hatim bin Isma'il, from Abu Ja'far al-Razi Isa bin Mahan, from Ibrahim bin Muhajir, from Amir bin Sa'd, from Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her).
Corroborating chains and supporting reports: The hadith of Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her) about the story of Subay'ah al-Aslamiyyah was recorded by Ahmad (42/ 26471, 26658), al-Bukhari (4909, 5318), Muslim (1485), al-Tirmidhi (1194), al-Nasa'i (5672-5680) and Ibn Hibban (4296, 4297). In the story of Subay'ah it is mentioned that she gave birth forty nights after the death of her husband, then she received a marriage proposal and the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) had her married.
