It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the wife of Thabit bin Qays sought khul' (divorce at the wife's request) from him, and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) set her waiting period at one menstrual cycle.
This hadith has a sahih chain of transmission; however, Abd al-Razzaq narrated it from Ma'mar as mursal.

Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Grading: This hadith is "sahih li-ghayrihi" (authentic due to supporting evidence), and this chain is "da'if" (weak). Technical note / Defect ('illah): Amr bin Muslim (al-Janadi) is weak but usable for corroboration (yu'tabar bihi). There is a disagreement over whether this hadith is connected or mursal, as the author (al-Hakim) has pointed out. Reference / Source: Abu Dawud (2229) and al-Tirmidhi (1185) narrated it from Muhammad bin Abd al-Rahim al-Baghdadi al-Bazzaz, from Ali bin Bahr, with this same chain. Al-Tirmidhi said: This hadith is "hasan gharib". Details of the narration: And this narration will come after it by way of Abd al-Razzaq, from Ma'mar, from Amr bin Muslim, from 'Ikrimah, as "mursal". Reference / Source: The basis of the hadith of Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) is found in al-Bukhari (5273) by way of Khalid al-Hadhdha' and (5276) by way of Ayyub: that the wife of Thabit bin Qays came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: O Messenger of Allah! I find no fault with Thabit bin Qays in his character or his religion, but I dislike ingratitude (kufr) in Islam. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Will you return his garden to him?" She said: Yes. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said (to Thabit): "Accept the garden and divorce her with one divorce." There is no mention of the waiting period ('iddah) in it. Corroborating chains and supporting reports: However, the narration of Amr bin Muslim (which mentions the waiting period) is supported (shahid) by the hadith of al-Rubayyi' bint Mu'awwidh, which is in Ibn Majah (2058), al-Tirmidhi (1185) and al-Nasa'i (5662), and it is "sahih".
