Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Grading: This hadith is "sahih li-ghayrihi" (sahih due to supporting evidence), and this chain is "qawi" (strong) because of "'Ammar bin Ruzayq".
Reference / Source: Imam Ahmad (15/ 9157) narrated it from Abu al-Jawwab al-Ahwas bin Jawwab, with this chain.
Reference / Source: Abu Dawud (2175 and 5170), al-Nasa'i (9170) and Ibn Hibban (5560) narrated it via two routes from 'Ammar bin Ruzayq, likewise.
Corroborating chains and supporting reports: The hadith of Buraydah al-Aslami, found with Ahmad (38/ 22980) and others, supports it (as a shahid).
Note / Clarification: The word "khabbaba" means: he corrupted and deceived. With regard to a woman, it means mentioning her husband's faults to her, or the good qualities of a stranger.
