حدثنا أبو العباس محمد بن يعقوب، حدثنا محمد بن إسحاق الصَّغَاني، حدثنا سُرَيج بن النُّعمان، حدثنا فُلَيح بن سليمان، عن هلال بن علي، عن عطاء بن يَسَار، عن أبي هريرة، أنَّ النبي ﷺ قال: "الجنةُ مئةُ درجة بين كل درجتين كما بينَ السماءِ والأرض، والفِردَوسُ من أعلاها درجةً، ومنها تَفجَّرُ أنهارُ الجنة، فإذا سألتم اللهَ فاسألوه الفِردوسَ" (2).
هذا حديث صحيح على شرط الشيخين، ولم يُخرجاه. وله شاهدٌ صحيح بمثل هذا الإسناد عن أبي هريرة وأبي سعيد:

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Paradise has a hundred levels, and between every two levels is a distance like that between the earth and the heaven. The highest level among them is al-Firdaws, and from it the rivers of Paradise flow forth. So when you ask Allah, ask Him for al-Firdaws."
This hadith is sahih (authentic) on the condition of the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim), but they did not record it. It also has a sahih shahid (supporting narration) with this same chain from Abu Hurayrah and Abu Sa'id (may Allah be pleased with them both).

(2) حديث صحيح، فليح بن سليمان ليس بذاك القوي، لكن الإمام البخاري ﵀ قد خرَّج له في "صحيحه" أحاديث منتقاة منها هذا الحديث كما سيأتي، وباقي رجال الإسناد ثقات. ¤ ¤ وأخرجه أحمد 14/ (8421) عن سريج بن النعمان، بهذا الإسناد.
Grading: This hadith is sahih.
Technical note / Defect ('illah): Although Fulayh bin Sulayman is not very strong, Imam al-Bukhari (may Allah have mercy on him) included selected hadiths of his in his "Sahih", among them this hadith, as will come; the remaining narrators of the chain are thiqah.
Reference / Source: Ahmad narrated it (14/8421) from Surayj bin al-Nu'man, with this chain.
وأخرجه البخاري (2790) و (7423) من طريقين عن فليح بن سليمان، به. فاستدراك الحاكم له ذهولٌ منه.
Reference / Source: Al-Bukhari narrated it at no. (2790) and (7423) via two routes from Fulayh bin Sulayman.
Important point: Al-Hakim's including it (in the Mustadrak) is an oversight (dhuhul) on his part, since it is already in Sahih al-Bukhari.
وروي عن فليح عن هلال بن علي عن عطاء بن يسار أو عبد الرحمن بن أبي عمرة عن أبي هريرة، أخرجه أحمد 14/ (8420) عن يونس بن محمد المؤدب عن فليح. وانظر تتمة تخريجه والكلام عليه فيه.
Details of the narration: This narration is also reported via Fulayh from Hilal bin Ali, from Ata' bin Yasar or Abd al-Rahman bin Abi Amrah, from Abu Hurayrah; Ahmad (14/8420) narrated it via Yunus bin Muhammad al-Mu'addib from Fulayh.
