It is narrated from Yazid bin Dubay'ah al-Absi; he said: On the day of the Battle of the Camel, when the people had retreated (in defeat), the announcer of Sayyiduna Ammar bin Yasir (may Allah be pleased with him) called out: Beware! No wounded person is to be killed, nor is anyone fleeing to be struck down, and whoever lays down his weapons is safe. The narrator said: This (leniency) was hard on us.
It also has a sahih (authentic) supporting report (shahid).

Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
(2009). Technical note / Defect ('illah): It is thus in our manuscripts with the letter "ya'" retained, whereas the standard practice is to drop it; an example of this appeared earlier at number 2009.
Grading: This report is sahih. Technical note / Defect ('illah): It is narrated from Sharik (Ibn 'Abdullah al-Nakha'i) in different ways, and it is also narrated from 'Ali through other routes; moreover, the previous narration of Abu Umamah supports it. Important point: "Al-Suddi" is Isma'il bin 'Abd al-Rahman. Reference / Source: Al-Bayhaqi narrated it in "al-Kubra" (8/181) via Imam al-Hakim with this same chain. Reference / Source: Ibn Abi Shaybah (15/263) narrated it via Yahya bin Adam from Sharik from al-Suddi from 'Abd Khayr, that 'Ali said this on the day of the Camel. Reference / Source: Ibn Abi Shaybah (15/282) narrated it from Yahya bin Adam from Sharik from Sulayman bin al-Mughirah from Yazid bin Dubay'ah from 'Ali, that he said this sentence on the day of the Camel. Reference / Source: Sa'id bin Mansur narrated it in his "Sunan" (2947) and al-Baladhuri in "Ansab al-Ashraf" (3/57) via Ja'far bin Muhammad (Imam al-Sadiq), from his father (Imam al-Baqir), from 'Ali bin al-Husayn (Imam Zayn al-'Abidin), from Marwan bin al-Hakam, who said: A caller called out on behalf of 'Ali (may Allah be pleased with him), and he mentioned the full narration. Grading: Its chain is sahih. Technical note / Defect ('illah): This narration is also narrated as "mursal" via Ja'far bin Muhammad from his father (as in Qadi Abu Yusuf's "al-Kharaj" p. 234, Ibn Abi Shaybah 12/424 and al-Bayhaqi 8/181), but two thiqah narrators narrated it as "mawsul" (with a full chain), so the mursal narration does not impair its authenticity. 23/ 113. Reference / Source: Ibn Abi Shaybah (15/286) narrated it via Zayd bin Wahb, that 'Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) said it (and he mentioned it). Grading: Its chain is sahih, as al-Hafiz Ibn Hajar al-'Asqalani stated in "Fath al-Bari" (23/113). Reference / Source: Imam al-Tabari narrated it in his "Tarikh" (4/490-493) via Kulayb bin Shihab, that 'Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) called out (and he mentioned it). Grading: Its chain is hasan. Note / Clarification: The word "yudh'af" is read with a hamzah and a light "fa'", and also without the hamzah, with an alif and a doubled "fa'" as "yudhaff"; it is derived from "dha'afa" and "dhaffa". Important point: Its literal meaning is: "to finish off a wounded person", i.e. to kill him.
