مَنْ رَضِيَ بِاللَّهِ رَبًّا وَبِالْإِسْلَامِ دِينًا وَبِمُحَمَّدٍ رَسُولًا وَجَبَتْ لَهُ الْجَنَّةُ
Whoever is pleased with Allah as Lord, Islam as religion and Muhammad as Messenger, Paradise becomes obligatory for him

حدثنا أبو بكر بن إسحاق الفقيه، أخبرنا أبو المثنَّى، حدثنا مُسدَّد، حدثنا عبد الواحد بن زياد، حدثنا عاصمٌ الأَحْول، عن كُريب بن الحارث، عن أبي بُردة بن قيس أخي أبي موسى، أنَّ رسول الله ﷺ قال: "اللهمّ اجعَلْ فَنَاءَ أمتي قتلًا في سبيلِك بالطَّعْن والطاعون" (2).
هذا حديث صحيح الإسناد، ولم يُخرجاه.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Burdah bin Qays (may Allah be pleased with him), the brother of Sayyiduna Abu Musa al-Ash'ari (may Allah be pleased with him), that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) made this supplication: 'Allahumma ij'al fana'a ummati qatlan fi sabilika bit-ta'ni wat-ta'un' (O Allah, decree the end of my Ummah to be martyrdom in Your way, through the wounds of spears (on the battlefield) and the plague).
This hadith has a sahih (authentic) chain of narration, but the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim) did not record it.

(2) إسناده حسن من أجل كريب بن الحارث - وهو ابن أبي موسى الأشعري - فقد روى عنه جمع وذكره ابن حبان في "الثقات". أبو المثنى: هو معاذ بن المثنى العنبري، وعاصم الأحول: هو ابن سليمان. ¤ ¤ وأخرجه أحمد 24/ (15608) و 29/ (18080) عن عفان بن مسلم، عن عبد الواحد بن زياد، بهذا الإسناد.
Grading: The chain is "hasan" because of Kurayb bin al-Harith. He is a thiqah tabi'i, and a group of narrators narrated from him. Asim al-Ahwal is Ibn Sulayman.
وانظر حديث أبي موسى الأشعري في "مسند أحمد" 32/ (19528) و (19743) و (19744) بلفظ: "فَنَاءُ أمتي بالطَّعْن والطاعون"، فقيل: يا رسول الله، هذا الطعن قد عرفناه، فما الطاعون؟ قال: "وخْز أعدائكم من الجنّ، وفي كلٍّ شُهداء". وتقدَّم بعضه عند المصنف برقم (159).
Reference / Source: In Musnad Ahmad it is narrated from Abu Musa al-Ash'ari (may Allah be pleased with him) that he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The perishing (the mass death) of my Ummah will be by the thrust of spears and by plague." The Companions asked: What is plague? He said: "The prick (wakhz) of your enemies among the jinn, and those who die in either case are martyrs."
والطَّعْن: القتل في سبيل الله.
Linguistic explanation: "Al-Ta'n" means being killed in the path of Allah (by the thrust of a spear).
وانظر ما قاله الحافظ ابن حجر في "فتح الباري" في بيان معنى الطاعون 17/ 508 - 510.
