Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Note / Clarification: The part between the brackets [ ] has dropped out of the manuscripts of the "Mustadrak" here, but the correct course is to retain it, as al-Hafiz Ibn Hajar stated explicitly in "Ithaf al-Mahara" (13469).
Important point: Al-Hakim himself will mention it again further on by way of Ali bin Hamshadh at number (1304) with this addition; moreover, it is established in the chain with all the hadith scholars who narrated this hadith through the route of Ibn Abi Maryam.
Note / Clarification: In our manuscripts the name here is written "Abd Allah" (in the non-diminutive form), whereas the correct form is "Ubayd Allah" (in the diminutive form); it is likewise recorded (in the diminutive) in the book "Ithaf al-Mahara".
Grading: This narration is "sahih li-ghayrihi", and its chain is hasan, if Allah wills.
Technical note / Defect ('illah): A group narrated from Ubayd Allah bin Abd al-Rahman, and Ibn Hibban mentioned him in "al-Thiqat"; likewise, several narrators narrated from Abd al-Hamid bin Abd al-Rahman bin Azhar, and he too is included in Ibn Hibban's "al-Thiqat". About Ubayd bin Sharik (who is Ubayd bin Abd al-Wahid bin Sharik), al-Daraqutni said "saduq", while all the remaining narrators of the chain are thiqah.
Identification of names: Ibn Abi Maryam is Sa'id bin al-Hakam bin Abi Maryam.
Reference / Source: Al-Bayhaqi narrated it in "Shu'ab al-Iman" (9378) by way of Abu Abd Allah al-Hakim, through Ali bin Hamshadh alone, with this same chain.
Reference / Source: Ya'qub bin Sufyan narrated it in "al-Ma'rifah wa al-Tarikh" (vol. 1, pp. 284 and 357), Ibn Abi al-Dunya in "al-Marad wa al-Kaffarat" (24), al-Bazzar (3456), al-Ruyani in the "Musnad" (1539) and Abu al-Shaykh in "Amthal al-Hadith" (279). Likewise al-Tabarani (as in "Ithaf al-Mahara"), Abu Nu'aym in "Ma'rifat al-Sahabah" (4592), al-Khatib al-Baghdadi in "al-Muttafiq wa al-Muftariq" (922), and al-Bayhaqi in "al-Sunan" (vol. 3, p. 374), "al-Adab" (912) and "al-Shu'ab" (9378) narrated it through various routes from Sa'id bin Abi Maryam.
Note / Clarification: This narration will come again with the author (al-Hakim) further on at numbers (1304) and (5936).

Corroborating chains and supporting reports: It has a shahid (supporting report) from the hadith of A'ishah (may Allah be pleased with her) in Ibn Hibban (2936).

Note / Clarification: On this topic, a narration with the same meaning from Abd Allah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) is also found in Sahih al-Bukhari (5647) and Sahih Muslim (2571).
