It is narrated from Sayyiduna Sahl bin Hunayf (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever helps a mujahid in the way of Allah, or assists a debtor in hardship in his difficulty, or helps a mukatab slave in freeing his neck (gaining his freedom), Allah Almighty will give him a place in His shade on the Day when there is no shade except His shade."

Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Grading: Its chain has weakness: Abd Allah bin Sahl bin Hunayf, though Ibn Mandah mentioned that he was born in the lifetime of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), has no one narrating from him except Abd Allah bin Muhammad bin Aqil, and Ibn Aqil is weak; he is considered in corroborations, but he has no corroboration for this wording. Ibn Asakir and Ibn Hajar called it "hasan", while Ibn al-Mulaqqin exaggerated in declaring it "sahih".

Note / Clarification: This narration will come again later at no. (2896).
Reference / Source: The well-known hadith of al-Bukhari and Muslim: "Whoever equips a fighter has, as it were, fought himself."
Reference / Source: The narration of Sahih Muslim: "Whoever grants respite to someone in hardship or remits his debt, Allah will shade him in His shade." The debtor and the mukatab slave also fall into this category.
