Mustadrak al-Hakim — Hadith 2419

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Musa al-Ash'ari (may Allah be pleased with him) that, while lined up in ranks facing the enemy, he said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "Indeed, Paradise is beneath the shade of the swords." A young man of shabby appearance asked: "Did you yourself hear this from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)?" He replied: "Yes." So the young man broke the scabbard of his sword and said to his companions: "Peace be upon you," and then he plunged into the fighting against the enemy.
This hadith is sahih (authentic) on the condition of Imam Muslim, but the two Shaykhs did not record it.
