It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Amr (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) ordered him to equip an army, but the camels ran short. So the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) ordered me to take camels (on credit) against the young camels of the sadaqah, and I would take one camel in exchange for two camels (on the promise of giving them in the future).
This hadith is sahih (authentic) on the condition of Muslim, and the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim) did not record it.

Hadith Takhrij «
Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Grading: It is a "hasan hadith", although there is weakness and disorder (idtirab) in this chain.
Technical note / Defect ('illah): The correct form is that there is an intermediary, "Amr bin al-Huraysh", between Abu Sufyan and Abd Allah bin Amr, and he is majhul (unknown); however, through other routes this narration becomes "hasan".
Reference / Source: Abu Dawud (3357) narrated it with the addition of Amr bin al-Huraysh.
Technical note / Defect ('illah): In Ahmad's narration the intermediary Yazid bin Abi Habib is dropped, and the order of names is transposed.
Corroborating chains and supporting reports: It has another route, "Amr bin Shu'ayb from his father from his grandfather", which al-Hafiz Ibn Hajar declared strong in "Fath al-Bari" (7/ 263).
Note / Clarification: "Qala'is" refers to young she-camels.
Note / Clarification: It is necessary to study the earlier narration at number (2282) on this subject.
