Mustadrak al-Hakim — Hadith 230

فحدثنا علي بن حَمْشاذ العَدْل، حدثنا الحسن بن سهل بن عبد العزيز المجوِّز والعباس بن الفضل الأَسفاطي، قالا: حدثنا الخليل بن عُمَر بن إبراهيم، حدثنا عمر بن سعيد الأبَحُّ، عن سعيد بن أبي عَرُوبة، عن قَتَادة، عن أنس بن مالك قال: قال رسول الله ﷺ: "الشَّفاعةُ لأهلِ الكبائرِ من أمَّتي" (4). وأما حديث أشعث بن جابر:
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Intercession is for those of my Ummah who commit major sins."

(4) حديث صحيح بما قبله وما بعده، وهذا إسناد ضعيف، عمر بن سعيد الأبح قال البخاري في "تاريخه" 6/ 143: منكر الحديث، وقال أبو حاتم كما في "الجرح والتعديل" 6/ 111: ليس بقوي.
Grading: This hadith is sahih on the strength of the narrations before and after it; however, this particular chain is da'if.
Technical note / Defect ('illah): Regarding its narrator Umar bin Sa'id al-Abahh, al-Bukhari said in the "Tarikh" (vol. 6, p. 143) that he is "munkar al-hadith", and Abu Hatim said (as in "al-Jarh wa al-Ta'dil", vol. 6, p. 111) that he is not strong.
وأخرجه ابن خزيمة في "التوحيد" 2/ 653 عن محمد بن يحيى ويحيى بن محمد بن السكن، عن الخليل بن عُمر، بهذا الإسناد. وتحرَّف في المطبوع منه إلى: الخليل بن عَمْرو، وكلاهما صدوق من رجال "التقريب" إلّا أنَّ الذي روى عن عمر الأبح هو الخليل بن عُمَر.
Reference / Source: Ibn Khuzaymah narrated it in "al-Tawhid" (vol. 2, p. 653) by way of Muhammad bin Yahya and Yahya bin Muhammad bin al-Sakan, from al-Khalil bin Umar, with this same chain.
Note / Clarification: In the printed edition this name has been distorted into "al-Khalil bin Amr"; both are saduq narrators of the "Taqrib", but the narrator who actually reports from Umar al-Abahh is al-Khalil bin Umar (with a dammah).
