Mustadrak al-Hakim — Hadith 2296

It is narrated from Abu Ayyash (may Allah have mercy on him) that in the time of Sayyiduna Sa'd bin Abi Waqqas (may Allah be pleased with him), two men exchanged sult and barley. Sayyiduna Sa'd (may Allah be pleased with him) said: In the time of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), two men made a deal of unripe dates and fresh dates, so he (peace and blessings be upon him) asked: "Do fresh dates decrease when they dry?" They said: Yes. So he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Then do not do so."
