حدثنا أبو العباس محمد بن يعقوب، حدثنا محمد بن إسحاق الصَّغَاني، حدثنا موسى بن داود الضَّبِّي وعفان بن مسلم، قالا: حدثنا حماد بن سَلَمة. وحدثنا أبو بكر بن إسحاق، أخبرنا العباس بن الفضل الأسفاطي، حدثنا أبو الوليد، حدثنا حماد بن سَلَمة، عن ثابت، عن أنس: أنَّ النبي ﷺ اشترى صَفيَّة من دِحْيةَ الكَلْبي بسبعة أَرؤُسٍ (1).
هذا حديث صحيح على شرط مسلم، ولم يُخرجاه!

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) bought Sayyidah Safiyyah (may Allah be pleased with her) (from among the captives) from Dihyah al-Kalbi in exchange for seven persons (slaves).
This hadith is sahih (authentic) on the condition of Muslim, but the two Shaykhs did not record it.

(1) إسناده صحيح. أبو الوليد: هو هشام بن عبد الملك الطيالسي.
Grading: Its chain is "sahih"
Note / Clarification: Abu al-Walid is Hisham bin Abd al-Malik al-Tayalisi.
وأخرجه أحمد 21/ (13575)، ومسلم (1427) (87) من طريق عفان بن مسلم، بهذا الإسناد. فاستدراك الحاكم له ذهولٌ منه.
Reference / Source: Imam Ahmad (21/ 13575) and Muslim (1427) narrated it with this same chain, so al-Hakim's treating it as a "mustadrak" (addition) is an oversight on his part.
وأخرجه أحمد 19/ (12240)، وأبو داود (2997)، وابن ماجه (2272)، وابن حبان (7212) من طرق عن حماد بن سلمة، به.
Reference / Source: Imam Ahmad, Abu Dawud (2997), Ibn Majah (2272) and Ibn Hibban (7212) narrated it through the routes of Hammad bin Salamah.
