It is narrated from Sayyiduna Amr bin Taghlib (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Among the signs of the Hour is that wealth will become abundant, ignorance will increase, trials (fitan) will appear, and trade will spread."
This hadith has a sahih (authentic) chain, but the two Shaykhs did not record it. Its chain is sahih on their condition, except that no one narrates from Amr bin Taghlib other than al-Hasan (al-Basri).

Hadith Takhrij«
Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Grading: Its chain is sahih. Variation in wording: In the Musnad of Ahmad, instead of "trials" the words are "the appearance of the pen" (the spread of writing and reading), and there is no mention of the increase of ignorance. Reference / Source: Imam al-Nasa'i narrated it via the chain of Wahb bin Jarir, in which "the appearance of the pen" is the correct wording. Explanation: The Companion of the Messenger, 'Amr bin Taghlib (may Allah be pleased with him), explained "the appearance of the pen" as meaning that trade will spread so much that a merchant will consult another merchant, and in a whole tribe no one who can write (a scribe) will be found even when sought. Explanation: Ibn al-Athir says that it means that those who write will become many, because writing and reading were very rare among the Arabs before.
Research point: As we mentioned earlier at hadith (97), this claim of al-Hakim concerning the condition of the Sahih is not accepted; moreover, al-Bukhari narrated another hadith of al-Hasan from 'Amr bin Taghlib, also about the signs of the Hour, at number (2927), which confirms that the claim is invalid.
