It is narrated from Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever acquires the seven (first) long surahs (of the Qur'an) is a great scholar (habr)."
This hadith has a sahih (authentic) chain of narration, but the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim) did not record it.

Explanation & Benefits

Note / Clarification: In the printed edition the addition "al-sab' al-uwal" (the first seven) has been interpolated into al-Hakim's narration, although it is established in the narrations of Ahmad and others.
Grading: Because of 'Amr bin 'Amr and Habib bin Hind this chain is "hasan"; both are saduq (truthful). Reference / Source: Imam Ahmad narrated it by way of Isma'il bin Ja'far. Reference / Source: Imam Ahmad also narrated it by way of Sulayman bin Bilal.
