Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Grading: With this combined arrangement its chain is "very weak", because it contains the narrator "Humayd al-A'raj" (Ibn 'Ata'), whom Imam al-Dhahabi declared "matruk" (abandoned) in the "Talkhis".
Technical note: Abu Hatim al-Razi says that Humayd clung to (narrating) 'Abd Allah bin al-Harith from Ibn Mas'ud, whereas we know of no narration of 'Abd Allah bin al-Harith from Ibn Mas'ud.
Defect ('illah): Ibn al-Madini and al-Daraqutni stated with certainty that 'Abd Allah bin al-Harith (al-Zubaydi) did not hear from Ibn Mas'ud. Ibn Hibban says that he (Humayd) narrates from 'Abd Allah bin al-Harith from Ibn Mas'ud a notebook (nuskhah) that appears to be fabricated, and al-Daraqutni said something similar.
Defect in the chain: Errors (wahm) occurred in this hadith in several places, one of them being that the narrator combined the wording of different hadiths into a single context and then presented them all with the chain 'Abd Allah bin al-Harith from Ibn Mas'ud, whereas in reality 'Abd Allah bin al-Harith narrated some of these supplications from Zayd bin Arqam, some from Taliq bin Qays from Ibn 'Abbas, and some are not known from the narration of 'Abd Allah bin al-Harith at all.
Important point: What is apparent is that Humayd al-A'raj heard several hadiths, some of them from 'Abd Allah bin al-Harith and some from others; then he became confused and combined them all under a single chain ('Abd Allah bin al-Harith from Ibn Mas'ud).
Reference / Source: As for the first part of the hadith up to "and a soul that is not satisfied", and likewise seeking refuge from laziness, miserliness, cowardice, old age and the punishment of the grave, it was narrated by Imam Ahmad (32/19308), Muslim (2722) and al-Nasa'i (7816, 7817, 7843) through 'Asim bin Sulayman al-Ahwal, and by al-Nasa'i (7815) through al-Muthanna bin Sa'id al-Ta'i.
Details of the narration: Both of these narrators narrate it from 'Abd Allah bin al-Harith al-Zubaydi, and he from Zayd bin Arqam (may Allah be pleased with him). The hadith of al-Muthanna bin Sa'id adds seeking refuge from "the trial of the Dajjal", and in some narrations from 'Asim al-Ahwal another narrator, "Abu 'Uthman al-Nahdi", is also mentioned alongside 'Abd Allah bin al-Harith.
Details of the narration: 'Abd Allah bin al-Harith al-Zubaydi also has another chain for the first part of this supplication (up to "and a soul that is not satisfied").
Reference / Source: Imam al-Tirmidhi (3482) narrated it through 'Amr bin Murrah al-Jamali, from 'Abd Allah bin al-Harith, from Zuhayr bin al-Aqmar, from 'Abd Allah bin 'Amr bin al-'As (may Allah be pleased with him).
Grading: Imam al-Tirmidhi called it "hasan sahih gharib".
Technical note: Abu Zur'ah said (as Ibn Abi Hatim reported in 'Ilal al-Hadith, 2090) that the hadith of Zuhayr is more sahih and more likely (correct), i.e. more sahih than the hadith of Humayd al-A'raj.
Reference / Source: Imam Ahmad (3/1997), Ibn Majah (3830), al-Tirmidhi (3551), al-Nasa'i (10368) and Ibn Hibban (947, 948) narrated through 'Amr bin Murrah al-Jamali, from 'Abd Allah bin al-Harith al-Zubaydi, from Taliq bin Qays al-Hanafi, from Ibn 'Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both), that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) used to supplicate: "My Lord, make me grateful to You, fearful of You, obedient to You, humble before You and turning to You in repentance"
Grading: Its chain is "sahih". This narration has already passed with the author (al-Hakim) at no. (1931).
Reference / Source: His (peace and blessings be upon him) words from "O Allah, we ask You for the means of Your forgiveness" up to "and salvation from the Fire" have already passed on their own with the author at no. (1946) through Sa'id bin Mansur from Khalaf bin Khalifah.
Grading: Seeking refuge from laziness, the hardship of old age, the punishment of the Fire and the punishment of the grave is authentically established from Ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) as "marfu'" (as the Prophet's (peace and blessings be upon him) own words).
Reference / Source: As narrated by Muslim (2723), Abu Dawud (5071), al-Tirmidhi (3390) and al-Nasa'i (9767, 10333).
Details of the narration: Some of Imam Muslim's narrations add seeking refuge from the trial of this world (i.e. the trial of life), and al-Nasa'i's first narration additionally mentions seeking refuge from cowardice and miserliness.
Grading: Seeking refuge from miserliness, cowardice, an evil life (old age) and the trial of the breast is also established from Ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him).
Reference / Source: Al-Nasa'i (7832, 7863, 9884) narrated it with a "sahih chain"; for further detail see no. (1964).

Corroborating chains and supporting reports: For seeking refuge from the trial of life and death, the hadith of Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) serves as a supporting report (nos. 1024, 1976).

Corroborating chains and supporting reports: The hadith of 'A'ishah (may Allah be pleased with her) (no. 1418) is also a supporting report for it.

Grading: All these routes from 'A'ishah contain criticism (weakness).
