Mustadrak al-Hakim — Hadith 1855

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "The most excellent remembrance is 'La ilaha illallah' (There is no god but Allah), and the most excellent supplication is 'Al-hamdu lillah' (All praise is for Allah)."
This hadith is sahih al-isnad (its chain is authentic), but the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim) did not record it.

Hadith Grading
Hadith Takhrij «
Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Grading: Its chain is "hasan". Musa bin Ibrahim bin Kathir is alone in narrating it from Talhah bin Khirash, and there is criticism of both of them which lowers them below the level of sahih.
Reference / Source: Ibn Majah (3800) narrated it from Abd al-Rahman bin Ibrahim al-Dimashqi, from Musa bin Ibrahim al-Harami, with this chain.
Repetition: This narration will come again later under number (1873) by way of Yahya bin Habib from Musa bin Ibrahim, and its sources from that route will be given there.
Corroborating chains and supporting reports: On this topic the hadith of Abu Dharr (may Allah be pleased with him) is in Musnad Ahmad (35/21487), but its chain is weak.
