It is narrated from Sayyiduna Mu'adh bin Jabal (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "On land watered by rain, natural moisture or floodwater, a tenth ('ushr) is due, and on land watered from wells or by labour, half a tenth (a twentieth) is due." This zakah applies only to dates, wheat and grains; as for cucumbers, melons, pomegranates and green fodder (qadb), the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) has exempted them (that is, no zakah is due on them).
This hadith has a sahih chain, but the two Shaykhs did not record it; and it has a supporting narration (shahid) with a sahih chain:

Grading: This chain is da'if because of the weakness of Abdullah bin Nafi' and Ishaq bin Yahya. Reference / Source: Al-Bayhaqi narrated it in "al-Sunan al-Kubra" (4/129) and "al-Sunan al-Sughra" (1186) via the route of Abu Abdullah al-Hakim, with this same chain. Reference / Source: Al-Daraqutni (1915) and al-Bayhaqi (4/129) narrated it via the route of Yahya bin al-Mughirah from Ibn Nafi'. Reference / Source: Al-Daraqutni (1916 to 1919) narrated via various routes from Musa bin Talhah from Mu'adh from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): "There is no zakat on vegetables." Criticism of a narrator: Some of these routes contain Muhammad bin Nasr bin Hammad, who is a kadhdhab (liar), and some contain al-Hasan bin 'Umarah, who is weak. Reference / Source: Al-Daraqutni narrated it through a mursal route (1920) with the chain 'Ata' bin al-Sa'ib from Musa bin Talhah, that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade taking sadaqah (zakat) from vegetables. Reference / Source: Al-Tirmidhi (638) narrated it via the route of al-Hasan bin 'Umarah, from Muhammad bin Abd al-Rahman bin 'Ubayd, from 'Isa bin Talhah, from Mu'adh (may Allah be pleased with him), that he wrote to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asking him about vegetables (buqul), and he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "There is nothing on them (that is, no zakat)." Grading: Imam al-Tirmidhi says: The chain of this hadith is not sahih, and nothing on this topic is authentically established from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). Then he said: The scholars act upon this, that there is no zakat on vegetables. Criticism of a narrator: Al-Hasan is Ibn 'Umarah, who is weak according to the hadith scholars; Shu'bah and others declared him weak, and Abdullah bin al-Mubarak abandoned him.
