أخبرَناه [أبو] إسحاق إبراهيم بن إسماعيل القارئ (3)، حدثنا السَّرِيُّ ابن خُزَيمة، حدثنا موسى بن إسماعيل، حدثنا حماد بن سَلَمة، عن محمد بن عمرو، عن أبي سَلَمة، عن أبي هريرةَ قال: لما مات إبراهيمُ ابنُ رسول الله ﷺ صاح أسامةُ بن زيدٍ، فقال رسول الله ﷺ: "ليس هذا منّي، وليس بصائحٍ حقٌّ، القلبُ يَحزَنُ، والعينُ تَدمَعُ، ولا نُغضِبُ الربَّ" (1).
Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) states that when Ibrahim, the son of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), passed away, Sayyiduna Usamah bin Zayd (may Allah be pleased with him) cried out. At this the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "This (crying out) is not from me, and the one who cries out (in lament) has no right. The heart grieves and the eye sheds tears, but we do not say anything (with the tongue) that angers our Lord."

(3) في النسخ الخطية: إسحاق بن إبراهيم بن إسماعيل القارئ، وهو خطأ، صوابه ما أثبتنا، فهو إبراهيم بن إسماعيل، ويكنى أبا إسحاق، وقد روى عنه المصنف في غير موضع من هذا الكتاب، وانظر ترجمته في "تاريخ الإسلام" للذهبي 7/ 714 وفي رسمي (الخشاوري) و (القارئ) من "الأنساب" للسمعاني. وقد جاءت تسميته على الصواب في أصل "إتحاف المهرة" 16/ 197 ¤ ¤ دون ذكر الكنية، إلا أن محققه - عفا الله عنا وعنه - أثبت الخطأ ركونًا إلى نسخ "المستدرك". ولم يتنبه لهذا الخطأ محققو طبعة دار الميمان!
Technical note: (3) In the manuscripts it had become "Ishaq bin Ibrahim bin Isma'il"; the correct form is "Ibrahim bin Isma'il" (Abu Ishaq), as is clear from "Ithaf al-Maharah" and al-Sam'ani's "al-Ansab".
(1) إسناده حسن من أجل محمد بن عمرو: وهو ابن علقمة الليثي. موسى بن إسماعيل: هو أبو سلمة التَّبوذَكي، وأبو سلمة الراوي عن أبي هريرة: هو ابن عبد الرحمن بن عوف.
Grading: (1) Its chain is hasan because of Muhammad bin 'Amr bin 'Alqamah al-Laythi. Abu Salamah here is Ibn Abd al-Rahman bin 'Awf.
وأخرجه ابن حبان (3160) من طريق هدبة بن خالد، عن حماد بن سلمة، بهذا الإسناد.
Reference / Source: Ibn Hibban (3160) narrated it via the chain of Hudbah bin Khalid from Hammad bin Salamah, with this same chain.
ولفظه عنده: "ليس هذا منا، ليس لصارخ حظٌّ، القلبُ يحزنُ، والعين تدمعُ، ولا نقول ما يُغضِب الرب".
(Note / Clarification): His wording is: "This is not one of us (the one who wails); the one who shrieks has no share (of reward). The heart grieves and the eye weeps, but we do not say what angers the Lord."
