Mustadrak al-Hakim — Hadith 1237

Yazid al-Faqir narrates from Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with them both), who said: Some weeping women came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) (complaining of the drought), so he (peace and blessings be upon him) supplicated: 'Allahumma-sqina ghaythan mughithan mari'an mari'an, 'ajilan ghayra ajil, nafi'an ghayra darr' (O Allah, give us rain that brings relief, that is wholesome, that makes the land green and fertile, that comes soon and not late, that is beneficial and not harmful). Then clouds covered them.
This hadith is sahih (authentic) on the condition of the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim), but they did not record it.

Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Grading: (1) Its chain is sahih. Muhammad bin 'Ubayd refers to al-Tanafisi.
Reference / Source: Abu Dawud (1169) narrated it through Ibn Abi Khalaf from Muhammad bin 'Ubayd with this same chain.
Corroborating chains and supporting reports: The narration of Ibn 'Abbas (Ibn Majah 1270) is a supporting report (shahid) for it; its narrators are thiqah, but there is disagreement over whether it is mawsul or mursal.
Corroborating chains and supporting reports: The narration of Ka'b bin Murrah (Ibn Majah 1269) can also serve as a supporting report, even though there is a break (inqita') in it.
