Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Buhaynah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that in one of the prayers the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), leading us, stood up after two rak'ahs (instead of sitting for the tashahhud). The people drew his (peace and blessings be upon him) attention by saying Subhan Allah, but he (peace and blessings be upon him) carried on, until when he had finished the prayer and only the salam remained, he (peace and blessings be upon him), while still sitting, made two prostrations of forgetfulness before giving the salam.
This detailed hadith is sahih (authentic) on the condition of the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim), but they did not record it!

Hadith Takhrij«
Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Grading: (1) It is a "sahih hadith"; al-Dahhak bin 'Uthman has been corroborated. 'Abdullah bin Buhaynah is named after his mother. Reference / Source: Ahmad (38/22919), al-Bukhari (829 and elsewhere), Muslim (570), Abu Dawud, Ibn Majah, al-Tirmidhi and al-Nasa'i narrated it through routes from 'Abd al-Rahman al-A'raj. Al-Hakim's istidrak here too is an oversight on his part. Reference / Source: Ahmad and Ibn Hibban narrated it through two routes directly from Ibn Buhaynah. Defect ('illah) / Technical note: In the narration of al-Nasa'i (600) the name "Malik bin Buhaynah" is a mistake; the correct one is "'Abdullah bin Malik bin Buhaynah".
