Mustadrak al-Hakim — Hadith 1159

حدثنا أبو العباس محمد بن يعقوب، حدثنا الحسن بن علي بن عفّان العامِريّ، حدثنا زيد بن الحُباب، حدثنا أبو المُنِيب عُبيد الله بن عبد الله، حدثني عبد الله بن بُرَيدة، عن أبيه قال: قال رسول الله ﷺ: "الوِترُ حقٌّ، فمن لم يُوتِرْ فليس مِنَّا" (1).
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Buraydah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Witr is a truth (established duty), so whoever does not pray witr is not one of us."

Grading: (1) In corroborating chains the chain is "hasan", on account of Abu al-Munib.
وأخرجه البيهقي 2/ 469 عن أبي عبد الله الحاكم، بهذا الإسناد.
Reference / Source: al-Bayhaqi (2/469) narrated it through the chain of Imam al-Hakim.
وأخرجه ابن أبي شيبة 2/ 297 عن زيد بن الحباب، به. وانظر ما بعده.
Reference / Source: Ibn Abi Shaybah (2/297) narrated it through the chain of Zayd bin al-Hubab.
ويشهد لقوله: "الوتر حق" حديث أبي أيوب السالف برقم (1141) بإسناد صحيح.
Corroborating chains and supporting reports: The words "Witr is a duty (haqq)" are supported by the sahih hadith of Abu Ayyub (no. 1141).
ويشهد لقوله: "من لم يوتر فليس منا" حديث أبي هريرة عند أحمد في "المسند" (9717)، وإسناده ضعيف.
Corroborating chains and supporting reports: "Whoever does not pray Witr is not one of us": this is supported by a da'if narration of Abu Hurayrah (Musnad Ahmad 9717).
