ما حدَّثَناه أبو عبد الله محمد بن عبد الله الصَّفَّار، حدثنا أحمد بن يونس الضَّبِّي، حدثنا أبو بَدْر شُجاع بن الوليد، حدثنا يحيى بن أبي حَيَّة، عن عِكرمة، عن ابن عباس، أنَّ رسول الله ﷺ قال: "ثلاثٌ هنَّ عليَّ فرائضُ ولكم تطوُّع: النَّحْر، والوِتر، وركعتا الفجر" (2). قال الحاكم: الأصل في
هذا حديثُ (1) الإيمان وسؤال الأعرابيِّ النبيَّ ﷺ عن الصلوات الخمس: هل علي غيرُها؟ قال: "لا، إلّا أن تطوَّع" (2). وحديث سعيد بن يسار عن ابن عمر في الوتر على الراحلة (3)، وقد اتفق الشيخان على إخراجهما في "الصحيح".

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Three things are obligatory upon me and voluntary (optional) for you: the sacrifice, witr, and the two (sunnah) rak'ahs of Fajr."
Imam al-Hakim says: The foundation in this matter is the hadith of faith (iman) in which a Bedouin asked the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) about the five prayers: "Is anything else besides them obligatory upon me?" and he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "No, unless you do something voluntary of your own accord"; and also (a foundation) is the hadith of Sa'id bin Yasar from Ibn Umar which mentions praying witr on a mount. The two Shaykhs agreed on recording both of them in their Sahih.

(2) إسناده ضعيف لضعف يحيى بن أبي حية: وهو أبو جناب الكلبي.
Grading: (2) The chain is da'if due to the weakness of Yahya bin Abi Hayyah (Abu Janab al-Kalbi).
وأخرجه أحمد 3/ (2050) عن شجاع بن الوليد، بهذا الإسناد.
Reference / Source: Ahmad (3/2050) narrated it through the chain of Shuja' bin al-Walid.
وأخرج نحوه أيضًا (2065) و (2081) و (2916) و (2917) من طريق جابر بن يزيد الجعفي، ¤ ¤ عن عكرمة، به. وجابر هذا أيضًا ضعيف، وقد اضطرب في متنه؛ فقال مرة: "أمرت بركعتي الضحى وبالوتر ولم يكتب"، وقال مرة: "أمرت بالأضحى" بدل ركعتي الضحى، وقال مرةً: "أمرت بركعتي الضحى ولم تؤمروا بها، وأمرت بالأضحى ولم تكتب" ولم يذكر الوتر.
Variation in the chain: Jabir al-Ju'fi (who is weak) also narrated it, but there is inconsistency (idtirab) in the text (sometimes the two rak'ahs of Duha are mentioned, sometimes the sacrifice, sometimes Witr).

(2) يريد بحديث الإيمان حديث جبريل الطويل في سؤاله عن الإيمان والإسلام والإحسان، وهو من حديث عمر عند مسلم (8)، وأما حديث سؤال الأعرابي فهو عند البخاري (46) ومسلم (11) من حديث طلحة بن عبيد الله.
(Clarification): (2) "The hadith of iman" refers to the well-known hadith of Jibril (Muslim 8). The hadith about the question of the Bedouin (a'rabi) is in al-Bukhari (46) and Muslim, narrated from Talhah bin Ubayd Allah.
(3) أخرجه البخاري (999)، ومسلم (700).
