Mustadrak al-Hakim — Hadith 1103

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that when the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) came to Madinah, its people had two fixed days (each year) on which they would play and amuse themselves. He (peace and blessings be upon him) asked: "What are these two days?" They said: In the Jahiliyyah we used to play and amuse ourselves on these days. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Indeed, Allah Almighty has given you in their place two days better than them: Eid al-Adha and Eid al-Fitr."
This hadith is sahih (authentic) on the condition of Imam Muslim, but they did not record it.
