Mustadrak al-Hakim — Hadith 1038M

Yahya bin Ma'in was asked about Bakkar bin Abd al-Aziz bin Abi Bakrah, and he said: He is salih al-hadith (sound in hadith). This hadith has many supporting narrations, among them: that he (peace and blessings be upon him) saw a monkey and fell down in prostration; that he (peace and blessings be upon him) saw a disabled person and fell down in prostration; that at the conquest of Khaybar, when Ja'far bin Abi Talib (may Allah be pleased with him) came to him (peace and blessings be upon him), he (peace and blessings be upon him) fell down in prostration; and that he (peace and blessings be upon him) saw a dwarf (a very short person) and fell down in prostration.

Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Criticism of a narrator: (2) Ishaq bin Mansur was contradicted by Ibn Abi Khaythamah and Abbas al-Duri, who reported from Ibn Ma'in that Bakkar's hadith is worth nothing.

Grading: (1) Ibn Hibban, al-Tabarani and Ibn Adi narrated it through the chain of Yusuf bin Muhammad bin al-Munkadir, but because of Yusuf's severe weakness this chain is "very weak".

Grading: (2) Al-Tabarani and al-Bayhaqi narrated it through the chain of Mis'ar from Abu Awn, but it is "mursal", and al-Daraqutni judged it correct that it is "mawquf" on Abu Bakr.
(Note / Clarification): "Al-zamanah" means an illness that stays with a person for a long time.

Technical note: (3) We have not been able to locate this narration.

Grading: (4) Abd al-Razzaq, al-Daraqutni and al-Bayhaqi narrated it as "mursal" through the route of Jabir al-Ju'fi (who is weak, and some call him matruk), so it is not established.
(Note / Clarification): "Al-nughash" or "al-naghghash" means a short (dwarfish) man whose movements are feeble.
